We have some fab Peris and Corr workshops all set up and ready to go for the next few months, starting in December with some lampshade making and festive workshops where you can print and design your own Christmas cards or festive table runner. We’ve got some dates ready for January as well, and these courses would make perfect Christmas presents.
With some of our printing courses it’s a good idea to have a think about your design before hand, and if you’re worried about the designing or drawing side of things there’s some ideas and tips below to get you started.
Keep your design simple. Simple screen-printed images can also be the most effective and the most striking. Think Matisse paper cuts or Marimekko’s bold designs. We’ve put together this Pinterest board to help get you started.
If you have no idea where to start, don’t worry we will have lots of books and magazines here to inspire you, and we will be on hand to help you develop that ‘random’ idea into a finished design. There will also be a collection of our own ready made patterns on screens for you to work with. You can use these by themselves or in combination with your own design.
Our printing workshops usually start off with a screen printing demonstration, this will give you a better idea of how the process works, and you will be able to have a quick go at it yourself. After some tea and cake, we will work through your ideas and designs then draw out the pattern and start cutting the stencils ready for printing.
Once all the prep work is done, and you have chosen ink colours, we will be ready for the fun part, printing! Screen printing can get messy, so this is why it’s a good idea to wear some old clothes just incase you get ink on them.
I really hope I’ve managed to answer any questions you may have :) but put them bellow if I haven’t!
